PORTER TEAM 1486A WINS PWCS ROBOTICON
On Saturday, 4 Porter robotics teams competed in the 48-team PWCS Roboticon. Teams began competition at 8:00AM and concluded at 4:00PM. Teams competed in the VEX Clean Sweep Tournament, Robot Skills Competition, Robot Programming Challenge, and the presentation of an Engineering Notebook. After the day long event, Team 1486A emerged as the winners of the Excellence Award. This award is given to the overall team champion and guarantees them a spot in the VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas, TX next month. This award is the highest honor given at a robotics event. Team members included Zach Deweese, Brian Martens, Joseph Andrews, Sayed Khan, and Tommy Lee.
The judges mentioned that out of all the teams, ALL Porter students/teams were some of the most professional, courteous, organized, and well-prepared at this event. What was equally great to see was how the other Porter teams took pride in this win. The entire Porter delegation, students and parents, celebrated this accomplishment together. This was treated not just as a team win, but a school win. Many long hours were put in by all robotics students and they all can take pride in what they did all season long and how it played out at Roboticon.
